Important Guidelines
for Diving at Mikomoto

 

1. Diving Experience and Recent Dive History

- Minimum Requirements (Mikomoto Divers Association):
  - At least 30 logged dives.
  - Last dive must be within 1 year.

- Our Shop's Policy (for enhanced safety):
  - 30–99 dives: Last dive must be within 6 months.
  - 100+ dives: Last dive must be within 1 year.
  - First-time Mikomoto divers aged 60+ (100+ dives): Last dive must be within 6 months.

- Restrictions:
  - First-time Mikomoto divers aged 60+ with less than 100 dives are not eligible.
  - First-time Mikomoto divers aged 70+ are not eligible.

- Important:
  - Bring your C-card and logbook as proof of your diving experience.
  - Participation may be denied if these cannot be verified on the day.

2. Skills Assessment

You must be able to:
- Set up and operate your equipment independently.
- Maintain proper buoyancy control.
- Monitor your air pressure on your own.
- Descend freely and equalize smoothly.

Independent diving skills are required without assistance from instructors.

3. Age, Medical History, and Conditions

- For divers aged 60+: A medical certificate signed by a doctor is required.
- For divers under 60 with a medical history: A signed medical certificate is also required.

- Participation Restrictions:
  - Pregnant individuals or those who may be pregnant cannot participate.
  - Divers with disabilities or chronic conditions should consult with us in advance.

4. Physical Fitness

Diving at Mikomoto requires a higher level of physical stamina:
- Maintain your fitness through regular exercise.
- Stretch to prevent leg cramps and ensure you are prepared for demanding fin work.

5. Diving Equipment

- Personal Equipment: Using familiar gear that fits well is ideal.
- Rental Equipment: Familiarize yourself with the operation before diving.
- Maintenance: Regular servicing and inspections of all gear, including rubber components like masks and fins, are essential.

6. Pre-Dive Health Management

- Ensure you are in excellent health:
  - Get adequate sleep before diving.
  - Consume alcohol in moderation and avoid hangovers.

- If you feel unwell on the day, prioritize safety and consider canceling.

7. Plan with Sufficient Preparation Time

First-time Mikomoto divers are encouraged to arrive the day before:
- Avoid rushing with tight schedules by arriving on the same morning.
- Allow yourself enough time for a stress-free dive preparation.

8. Understand the Briefing

- Mikomoto’s diving style is unique; it is crucial to thoroughly understand the briefing.
- Follow all rules and guidelines for safe and respectful diving.
- Divers who fail to follow the briefing may be denied participation.

9. Stay in Contact with Your Guide

- Always maintain contact with your guide underwater:
  - Avoid excessive focus on underwater photography to prevent separation.
  - Pay attention to emergency signals and guide cues, both visual
